How did I get to be this old?

My life is so good – really!  Hello! I have many names — Linda, Minnie, Sister, Mom, Mimi, CatMom, Friend, Lover, Fruitcake just to name a few.  I live winters in Florida and summers in Maine with my Honey and our 3 cats Queenie, Simon and Leroy (we just this morning changed his name from LT).  I’m 20 (+50) years old and am daily both grateful and totally amazed at my wonderful life.  I’ve always thought life was good or maybe good enough is a better term. My son once told me “Mom, you make your own happy” and he is right.  Blessed with a positive attitude, a happy smile and to always be able  see the good in everyone helped me to have Faith that everything would be ok.  I had wonderful parents that made sure my Sister and I were the center of their universe.  I have a beautiful Sister, an awesome Son, a sassy Granddaughter, two handsome Grandsons (all my grands think they are my very favorite!), a one in a million very special Honey, other great family members and some wonderful friends and Cats! Wow! Lucky, Lucky girl!

I’ve learned that as one ages, it’s important to keep a good sense of humor.  I have also learned, that as one ages, you can do some really silly, stupid things.  Like put your hand/arm in a spinning dryer………….that wasn’t fun but when asked how I got the gash in my right forearm, I explained it with “I’m old” – nuff said LOL  It’s also important to stay on top of health issues.  I enjoy good health.  And until last week took no prescription meds other than allergy medication that is available over the counter but asked for a prescription so I could be reimbursed by my Health Savings Account.  Well, since the Ides of March 2018, I have had more doctor appointments than I have in the past 10 years.  I now have the the utmost compassion and sympathy for people who’s health is fragile and depend upon the medical community to help them maintain their health.  We are given one body – everybody’s body is different and sometimes we have no control over the health of that body.  So, lately I  have had my bones scanned, boobs squashed, colonoscopy, endoscopy, hernia surgery (put off incisional hernia since weight loss surgery in 2002)   shoulder neurofibromatosis tumor surgery (who knew I would have a disease in common with the Elephant Man and that surgery also put off for more than 10 years). Next a stress test scheduled with my new cardiologist because of family heart issues.  I have filled out a gazillion medical questionnaires  and been interviewed by medical assistants and doctors and PAs all asking the same questions – do you smoke? – no – Good.  have you ever? – no – Good. do you drink? – yes – How much?  Well, I’m old and that’s what old women do.  They never know what to say!

My life is good! Found I have Barrett’s Esophagus so added one new med omeprazole  – went to doctor today to have staples removed from my shoulder neurofibromatosis tumor surgery and he wanted to check my hernia surgery – he said I’m recovering nicely – take it easy and not to lift more than 20 pounds.  My Honey went in to talk with the doctor with me because he thought I was doing too much – would you believe Honey didn’t want me to use my sewing machine???  Dr said sewing machine is fine……..that’s good because I’ve got a quilt to finish for grandson’s graduation but that’s another story.

Time for cocktails with my Honey……..We’ll chat soon!
